That's supposed to be a 1958 ElDorado. OR as I like to say, my interpretation of one. It's not perfect. No I don't know a whole lot about classic cars. I just love the way they look and the nostalgia they bring with them.
I wish I had a more interesting reason why I included the shoe, but the main reason was because I was invited to be in a "Shoe" show. lol I also think red high heeled shoes are iconic. This was a time when I decided I would now start painting people. But so far, thats the only person I've painted. I ended up not only painting him from the back, but covering him up with a long coat and a hat so I wouldn't be addressing any aspect of his body. So I don't think I was enjoying the figure very much. By the way, the coat was inspired by the long coat Keanu Reeves wore in the Matrix - which has nothing to do with anything, except that I liked the way it looked.
I actually thought at this point. I should start painting people and stop painting bears because I didn't think I should be painting the same thing over and over. I remember telling my good friend and artist, Timothy (Ojile) about these concerns and he just looked at me and rolled his eyes and said, "Just paint whatever you want" lol.
It was great advice. So that's what I do and will do until all the bears are out of me.
I've grown quite fond of this painting. I like the colors and the feeling of this town.
