The laundromat was empty. There was a rustling sound behind one of the washing machines.
Just STOP IT right now! I don't care if you don't feel like it - just do it!! And no, I am NOT being bossy. For your information, I happen to be FREAKING OUT.
There's a difference.
What? You're HUNGRY? I don't believe you. NO I don't have ramen! Seriously I...whoa! Shhhh...put your head down. What? Yes we're HIDING. It's the POLICE, for crying out loud......what are you...I can't believe you're laughing. No I'M not laughing. I'll never laugh again for the rest of life. That'll be the last line of my story. "She never laughed again." No it's not a melodrama! It's a drama. A cerebral drama with tragic undertones. Yes. yours is a comedy. No, how can yours be a rom com? Where's the "rom" part?? OK FINE whatever. Then mine will be a "Sci Fi cerebral drama. Understated and dystopian.
Originally the sign in this painting said "Laundromat". This painting was part of a "Painting a day" exercise where I painted a total of 2 paintings. lol.
I had a deadline to submit work to the Cedar Galleries' Matchbox Miniature Art show and I hadn't started anything and had only a few days to come up with 2 paintings. This "exercise" was the right size and I only had to tighten it up and make it more interesting. It was perfect.
It turned out to be really fun to add to it. I painted whatever came to mind and it was freeing to just be funny and not really care. My paintings always has a sense of humor within it, although I also think they are quite mysterious and somewhat thoughtful. But some people just find my work downright funny. lol. So why fight it?
I tightened things up and my daughter Rose and I came up with a name for the laundromat. There's a lot of small detail in this painting like the notes in the laundromat. I had go to Hawaiian Graphics and buy their smallest brush in order to paint the notes. It's so exciting to buy new brushes and paint.
The "bear" in the painting is kind of an easter egg. There's always a hint of a bear.
