She could smell ice cream She never knew ice cream had a smell. Well this must be a good sign that things were going to work out! She stepped on the gas and stuck her elbow out the window.
It was actually kind of nice that the air conditioner was broken. Kind of back to nature. It was all good. She forgot to pay the water bill and she forgot her cell phone at home. She marveled at how many things she forgot now. Notice she used “marveled” as oppose to another word with negative connotations. Yes, she was embracing her mista… uh… her interesting and often repetitive actions. She marveled at what must be going through her brain… no wait... maybe it’s not a good to marvel about. She marveled at how old she was starting to look..….wait , what? STOP! How did that sneak in?!
A bright flash of light blinded her for a second. She peered through the trees on the side of the road. What was the weird green light up ahead? It looked like a… telephone booth? A glowing green alien telephone booth? Nothing creepy about that, she told herself. She would just take a deep breath and be here now, just like the bear over there. The bear over there? The BEAR OVER THERE!
She slammed on the brakes, threw the shift into reverse. Before flooring the gas, she took one last look to make sure she wasn’t insane. Always a good habit, she thought. The bear was still there and it was looking directly at her. Then the phone rang.
I miss those old classic telephone booths where you could pull the door shut and have this mini private space in the midst of a crowded public area. Then you could have your important secret conversation with whoever because you certainly wouldn't want to be overheard. And of course, there's Superman.
Classic roadside neon signs tell stories of their own. There's part of the motel's name on the top of the painting. Can you tell what it spells? No, its not Peace. Seriously? Please. Well you figure it out. I did another painting where I used this same name for a hotel.
