A stack of papers? There was no stack of papers! And how was he supposed to find anything in this mess anyway? There was a LOT of old stuff here. Collectibles? Maybe. He looked around the huge room and shook his head. Perhaps if he shoved this old dresser to the right, he could see the other side of the room better. He put his shoulder to the dresser and shoved hard. It creaked as it inched slowly to the side, and then it suddenly slid quickly away. Whoa! He almost fell on the floor. Geez, He regained his balance and dusted off his shirt. Then he had that eerie feeling that someone was looking at him. He looked up and saw a bear reflected in an old mirror. Was that a stuffed bear?? He smiled. That's it! Its a .... The bear blinked at him. Oka-a-ay. It's a real bear. No screaming he told himself. No screaming. He then paled as he realized that if he could see the bear in the mirror, then the bear was .... behind him. The bear scratched its arm.

Painting Process
I was invited to be in a "mirror" show so I did this painting. Some viewers thought the bear was looking at itself in the mirror but the bear is actually looking at you. And if the bear is looking at you through the mirror, then that means the bear must be BEHIND YOU. That was the main feeling I was going for.
I'm not sure what the apple is about. But it seemed to fit. Apples are so iconic. Eve and the apple, Johnny Appleseed, the poison apple in Snow White, "as American as apple pie", Magritte's painting with the apple (except it was green), William Tell shooting the apple off his son's head etc. I added in the paper on the floor after I had shown the painting. I thought it needed something in that area. Folder paper is classic and after debating over what to write on the paper, I settled on "The eagle flies at night" which is somewhat referring to my other painting "La Glace" but mostly I liked it because it sounded cryptic.
****Framed work does not include glass or plexiglass. Framed prints come with an acrylic face - looks like a thin clear sheet. Matted prints also come with this acrylic face. It looks good though and the art prints are really very nice. Looks almost like an original! I was impressed!
